May I introduce myself to you? My name is SAO YOU ENG, nickname is YOU. I was born in1971, I got married and have one son and we are living in Siem Reap Angkor. Before working as a Tour Guide. i was a Interpreter and translator of UN who had come to coordinate the first national election in Cambodia in 1993 after the mandate of UN‘s mission finished I have applied to work as a tour guide and became the first promotion English Speaking Tour Guide which was trained, recognized by the ministry of Tourism till 1998 in Angkor Archaeological site as well as other tourism sites around Cambodia. Then I was employed again to work with tour management in Phnom Penh till 2001. From 2002 I had worked with non profit making organization in the field of education, which project focus on school building, social integrated development, story telling books distribution to primary school students at rural area, ect...

From 2006, i returned back to Siem Reap Angkor Wat to resume my previous work as Tour Guide. During working as tour guide, i have improved a lot of skill working environment among clients, and got greatly appreciated from them. Furthermore, I graduated from Phnom Penh University in the field of English Literature which the subjects focus on core history and Culture of Cambodia, Indochina affairs, and as well the influence of India ‘s culture to Cambodia.

In Khmer Rouge regime, I was 8 years old. it was time for schooling but I was forced to work very hard in the Children Mobile Unit. I had lost two brothers due to starvation and hunger. After the liberation from Khmer Rouge in January- 07- 1979, my age turned over ten years old, age for schooling , i still could not do it till 1982 because of the social infrastructure wholly destroyed the infamous leadership of Cambodia Pol Pot. So if you would have a good time to visit Angkor Wat – Cambodia. i will be very happy to share the story of it to you.

 

  - 1993-1994 Interpreter, translator of UN peacekeeper for the first national election in Cambodia.
  - 1995 -1998, I became the first promotion English Speaking Tour Guide
  - 1998-2001, I had worked for Travel Agency as a managerial level in Phnom Penh.
  - 2001 – 2006 I had work with International organization in the field of Humanitarian assistance with several projects covered as school building project, integrated social development, rice bank, library building and distribution of story telling book to primary school children, reprinting book of Culture of Cambodia.
We mostly focused on these projects at remote areas where most of children hardly access to the school.

Since 2006, I returned to Siem Reap to resume previous working as English Speaking Tour Guide in Siem Reap Angkor Wat. Now I become a qualified & licensed and professional tour guide, I have many friends and visitors from everywhere in the world and I take thousands of them to see my amazing Angkor Jungle ruined of Cambodia.
